The San Jose Earthquakes signed goalkeeper Jon Busch to a new contract Thursday.
Busch, 35, joined the Earthquakes in March of 2010 and has 14 shutouts - seven in each of his two seasons - for the squad. He started 33 of 34 regular-season matches last year.
He started his MLS career with the Columbus Crew in 2002 and remained with the club through 2006. He then played for the Chicago Fire from 2007-09, winning a MLS Goalkeeper of the Year award in 2007.

Beckham's return an important lifeline for MLS

Just under 4 1/2 years ago, David Beckham played under the "biggest raindrops I've ever seen," starting an experiment in front a sellout crowd of 46,686 in Washington, D.C., that could not fail, for the sake of MLS.
In the midst of its 12th season, at RFK Stadium, the home of record four-time champion D.C. United, just the sight of Beckham - the chance he might step on the field - was enough to lure a sellout crowd.
